# Any MCP client

Any client that speaks MCP can use Remiq, in one of two ways.

## Over HTTP, with sign-in

Point the client at your MCP address from the Console → **Agents** (it ends in `/mcp`). The client registers itself, the person signs in once (an API key and the memory space, or a user token), and the client gets a 1-hour token for that one space and a refresh token. Details: [The MCP server](/docs/mcp/).

## On your machine, over stdio

`mcp_server.py` runs Remiq's tools as a local MCP server. It needs only the standard library and talks only to your Remiq server.

| Setting | What it is |
|---|---|
| `PRISM_URL` | Your Remiq server (default `http://localhost:8787`) |
| `PRISM_API_KEY` | Your key (`prism_...`) |
| `PRISM_USER` | The memory space (default `default`) |
| `PRISM_VIEWER` | Optional: reads as this person. The model can never change it |

The usual client config:

```
{ "mcpServers": { "remiq": { "command": "python3", "args": ["/path/to/mcp_server.py"],
  "env": { "PRISM_URL": "https://<your Remiq address>", "PRISM_API_KEY": "prism_...", "PRISM_USER": "alice" } } } }
```

The server never reads an `ANTHROPIC_` or `OPENAI_API_KEY` from its environment: no model key ever reaches Remiq.
